This study was conducted by Pearson's Impact Evaluation Team as part of their efficacy reporting. The purpose of the study was to explore the potential relationship between the use of Revel and its intended outcomes. Pearson conducted the study with 114 students taking an introductory computer science course between the Spring 2018 and Fall 2019 semesters. The students were attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Our analysis suggests that students tended to persist with programming tasks in Revel, despite these tasks authentically mimicking the challenges a professional programmer might face in a competitive workplace.

Course data shows students that chose to utilize Revel for studying and course preparation performed better overall. Student survey shows students enjoyed their experience with Revel, the vast majority finding it a better solution than their previous textbook, believing it was a good value for the money and it increased their understanding of the course material.

Hatheway-Dial saw the need to include Excel proficiency in her course for two main reasons: employers were asking for graduates with Excel skills, and a working knowledge of Excel would help students in their subsequent business courses. Hatheway-Dial used MyLab IT for Excel practice and assessment and offered an incentive for students to sit for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel certification exam. Data show that 63% of students who completed all MyLab IT assignments passed the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel certification exam, while just 25% of students who skipped one or more assignments passed.

This study was conducted by Pearson's Impact Evaluation Team as part of their efficacy reporting. In Fall 2017 and Spring 2018, Pearson set out to explore whether the use of Revel is related to learner outcomes in areas like student experience, engagement, completion, and achievement. After conducting a study with 316 students taking Introduction to Psychology at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, researchers found that students who obtained higher quiz scores in Revel tended to do better on course exams. Not only that, survey data suggested that students had a positive learning experience using Revel; many reported it was a more efficient way to study than using other resources.

To allow students to take the industry-standard Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification exams on campus, Ciomek initiated the process to become a Certiport Authorized Test Center. Since Between May and December 2018, 196 students sat for an Excel or Access MOS exam; 81 students (41%) passed and received certifications. On an end-of-semester student survey, 89% of respondents agreed that, “Having a Microsoft Office Specialist certification brings an advantage when applying to jobs.”
