Brogan aimed to increase student preparedness for class and improve class discussion through implementing Revel. Students who scored above the median on Revel chapter quizzes scored significantly higher on the research paper than students who scored below the median on Revel chapter quizzes. Brogan believes Revel has improved student participation and outcomes in his course.

When a greater number of Revel assignments (108) were required in the course, overall course grades, average exam scores, average essay scores, and final Revel scores were higher than when fewer assignments (56) were required in the course.

Students earning higher Revel scores also earned significantly higher average participation, average exam, and final course scores. Data indicate a strong correlation between the overall percentage of Revel points earned and average exam scores.

After flipping the Finite Math course, pass (ABC) rates increased five percentage points. In a voluntary, end-of-semester student survey, 76 percent of respondents said their understanding of course material increased as a result of using MyLab Math.

Students’ module PostTest scores improved an average of 40 percentage points from their module PreTest scores. Students who earned higher MyLab homework scores showed greater improvement between module PreTests and PostTests. Students who scored higher on MyLab homework earned higher final course scores.

Student survey responses indicated 71 percent of respondents agreed or strongly agreed Revel made them better prepared for class and more engaged in the content of the course.

After completing required personalized MyLab Math remediation, students increased their practice test scores an average of 9 percentage points and chapter exam scores an average of 21 percentage points from first to final attempt. Students who scored above the average on their video notebook earned an average of 43 percentage points higher on other assessments in the course.

Results in A&P II showed that students who attempted all of the Mastering homework or who earned higher than the mean average Mastering score had significantly higher quiz, unit exam, and final exam averages than students who skipped one or more assignments or averaged below the mean. In addition, student comments reinforced that they found Mastering beneficial.

On average, students who passed the course scored 40 percentage points higher on workspace assignments than students who did not pass. Faculty found that by reviewing and analyzing the student responses on workspace, they are able to tailor the timing and depth of rigor in the course to best benefit the students.
