MyLab Programming Tour Video Transcript
This is a transcript of the video on the Educator Features page and Student Features page.
Hi, I'm here to talk to you about some of the exciting features you'll find in MyLab Programming.
MyLab Programming is a set of programming exercises correlated to a Pearson CS1 textbook. These exercises are short, focused on a particular topic, and are automatically evaluated. They provide immediate, personalized feedback that helps students master the syntax, semantics and basic usage of the programming language. This frees up both instructors and students to focus on problem-solving strategies, design and analysis, abstraction, algorithms and style.
First, we take a closer look at the challenge beginning students face in an intro to programming course. Often, students find it difficult to learn even the basics without practice.
With MyLab Programming, instructors have access to a repository of assignable coding exercises. These exercises increase students' engagement by encouraging them to test their understanding by writing small code snippets. Students start with the most basic exercises and gradually build up to writing longer, more complex code.
Beginning students often get frustrated when they don't know what they are doing wrong. This frustration can build, leading to low pass rates and high dropout rates. MyLab Programming gives students Immediate Personalized Feedback...
This feedback allows students to easily identify both compilation and logic errors in their code. As a result, students are better prepared.
Finally, instructors find it difficult to track student performance and most instructors find grading time consuming. MyLab Programming helps through its Dynamic Grading and Assessment feature of MyLab Programming.
Student submissions are automatically graded in real time without instructor involvement. The dynamic roster tracks student performance and maintains a record of all of their submissions.
And there you have it. That was a quick look at just a handful of the valuable features in MyLab Programming. If you want to learn more about MyLab Programming, go to MyLab Programming.com.
