Hi, I'm here to talk to you about some of the exciting features you'll find in MyLab Writing with Integrated Review.

New to MyLab Writing, Composition with Integrated Review helps students to improve their writing and assists instructors in administering assignments, along with assessing and measuring outcomes in accelerated learning environments. The new Integrated Review level is designed to help “close the gap” in Composition courses with a wide disparity of skill levels.

Leading things off, students often enter their composition courses with widely varying reading and writing skills. Instructors are expected to help students of all levels succeed in composition even though they may not have the resources to give students one-on-one attention. From the students' perspective, it is daunting to tackle the composition assignments if they don't have a firm understanding of the prerequisite concepts. But with Integrated Review…

Instructors have a way to identify students who need extra help. A pre-assessment tool called a Path Builder can give instructors an early indicator of what students know and where they may need additional support. As students progress through the course, each composition topic has a Prerequisite Skills Check to assess their proficiency in the basics. If they show mastery of the underlying prerequisite concepts, students would move on to the composition-level material. If they need support, they would access multimedia instruction to review just the topics where it is needed.

In writing courses, instructors invest a lot of time in commenting on students' writing and that careful feedback is a way that students learn to improve their writing. This takes a lot of time from the instructors, and they often explore ways to do this more efficiently. Students receive their instructors' feedback but they often do not know how to apply it or learn from their mistakes. With the new commenting and grading features in MyLab Writing...

Instructors can give feedback in a variety of ways, including the ability to grade using customizable rubrics. In addition, they can connect comments to multimedia instruction that provides students a personalized review plan or videos selected from Pearson Writer. By linking instruction to comments, students are more apt to learn from instructors' feedback and improve over time.

Finally, demonstrating students' success can be tricky for instructors. With an increasing emphasis on assessment, it's important to easily access and disseminate student's progress. Within the MyLab Writing gradebook…

Instructors can easily view, analyze, and report learning outcomes clearly and easily. They can get the information they need to keep their students on track throughout the course with the new Reporting Dashboard. Available via the Gradebook and fully mobile-ready, the Reporting Dashboard presents student performance data at the class, section, and program levels in an accessible, visual manner.
