Help students apply their learning

Application Exercises

Interactive Application Exercises and Assessments involving the analysis of dynamic videos, case studies, and artifacts help students apply and internalize their learning. Engaging in these learning experiences helps students practice and strengthen skills that prepare them for classroom observation and teaching.

Foster decision-making skills

Classroom Management Simulations

These interactive case studies give students an opportunity to make complex decisions about how best to handle classroom situations effectively. Each Simulation presents a series of four scenarios that require students to choose from a set of possible decisions. The program provides detailed feedback.

Study Modules

These application-oriented modules provide opportunities to learn educational psychology concepts in ways other than reading about them. Each module consists of two parts — Learn & Apply and Summarize & Assess. Screen-capture videos include animations, worked examples, and classroom videos to guide student learning. An auto-graded assessment tests students' comprehension.

Build observation skills

Video Analysis Exercises

These exercises provide students with an opportunity to analyze real student and teacher interactions. The exercises feature authentic classroom video clips, each illustrating a key theory, strategy, or topic. Accompanying rubrics scaffold students’ analysis of the techniques shown, while video analysis software enables students to annotate the clips with their rationales.

Engage students and bring concepts to life

Classroom Videos

A wealth of videos feature real teachers and students to bring abstract or difficult-to-understand concepts to life.

Videos are available embedded within the Pearson eText for immediate illustration of that chapter’s theme.

Additionally, videos are featured within the MyLab Chapter Resources tab for quick access at any time.

Track students' progress

The online gradebook automatically tracks your students' results on tests, homework, and practice exercises and gives you control over managing results and calculating grades. The gradebook provides a number of flexible grading options, including exporting grades to a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel and synchronizing MyLab grades with your LMS gradebook. And, it lets you measure and document your students' learning outcomes.

Easily scalable and shareable content

MyLab enables you to manage multiple class sections, and lets other instructors copy your settings so a standardized syllabus can be maintained across your department. Should you want to use the same MyLab course next semester, with the same customized settings, you can copy your existing course exactly — and even share it with other faculty members.
