Pearson conducted 10 interviews with learners in fall 2021 to better understand their experience with Pearson+. Through this work, learners share that Pearson+ is offering a convenient, flexible, and cost-effective option for accessing Pearson eTexts which include a variety of features that support learning.

In Spring 2022, Pearson interviewed eight instructors in North American to get a better understanding of their experience with, and perceptions of, Interactive MyLabs. Interactive MyLab offers a superior digital learning platform, a non-threatening space to practice, and a variety of supportive resources for students and instructors. It goes beyond other MyLab courses by featuring "learning assignments" that get students engaged through a mix of videos, reading, interactive figures, and "try it" exercises.

In Winter 2021, Pearson surveyed 749 learners and 72 instructors in STEM and business/economics courses in an effort to understand their perceptions and expectations when using a digital learning platform in quantitative courses. These learners and instructors were general users of digital learning platforms including Pearson products such as MyLab and Mastering.
In Spring 2022, Pearson interviewed seven instructors in North America to get a better understanding of their experience with, and perceptions of, MyLab IT. MyLab IT supports student success, comes with top-notch customer service, and offers a superior digital learning solution with a variety of beneficial tools and features.

Since Fall 2021, Pearson has gathered data from more than 500 learners through Pearson+ app reviews and Play Stores. From this data, we see students find Pearson+ to be a convenient, affordable, and supportive option for their textbooks.

In this paper, we describe a partnership between Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) and Pearson Education, where we defined a reengagement trend behavior and used it as a flag for student outreach. Our focus was on a specific mathematics course (Contemporary Mathematics) for non-STEM major students.
Pearson’s Efficacy and Learning team reviewed six of the top OER competitors and evaluated Pearson’s strengths against each of these offerings. Through this work we found that Pearson excels with supporting instructors and helping students achieve personalized outcomes.

Traditionally, active engagement in higher education courses requires learners to spend time reading sections of an assigned textbook. Feedback from learners suggests that they are discouraged from reading when the text is difficult to access and isn’t engaging. As an interactive digital environment, Revel aims to enhance students’ engagement with their reading by providing an interactive learning experience that incorporates multimedia content, opportunities to practice, and immediate feedback.

In Fall 2021, Pearson conducted three instructor interviews and surveyed 50 instructors and 313 students across the United States to gain a better understanding of their experience with, and perceptions of, Interactive Labs. Through this work, we found Interactive Labs facilitates active participation in learning, aids in the understanding of the scientific process, and conveys biology topics in a way that has real-world relevancy.

Pearson interviewed instructors across the United States in spring 2020 to understand how they’re using and experiencing Revel Introduction to Sociology by Macionis. Through this work, we found that Revel Sociology delivers an engaging learning experience while developing the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in class.
In August 2020, Pearson published a correlational efficacy study with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro that found a positive relationship between students continuously improving on programming tasks in Revel Java Programming and overall student success in the course. To understand if this is a shared outcome across a wide variety of institutions, we identified instructors who were using Revel Java Programming in a similar way to the instructor in the efficacy study and interviewed them about their experience using Revel.

Professor Laurie Metcalf reported many perceived advantages of using MediaShare for her online public speaking course. Specifically, she named her ability to accomplish the following in MediaShare: • Time-stamping specific feedback in students’ videos to support their development of public speaking skills • Providing more feedback to students’ videos because of the ability to copy and paste feedback in MediaShare’s grading rubric • Looking across assignments for the same student to determine whether a problem is recurring and adjusting her grading and communication with the student accordingly
