Learn how MathXL can help you reach every student
By combining trusted author content with digital tools and a flexible platform, MathXL personalizes the learning experience and improves results for each student.
Each student learns at a different pace. Personalized learning pinpoints the precise areas your students need to practice, giving every student the support they need — when and where they need it — to be successful.
Set pre- or post-assignments help students practice just the concepts that they need to master. With Personalized Homework, students take a quiz or test and receive subsequent homework that is personalized based on their performance. With Companion Study Plan Assignments, you can assign the Study Plan for practice as a prerequisite to a test or quiz. Available for developmental math MyLab courses, Skill Builder offers adaptive practice that is designed to increase students' ability to complete their assignments.Homework and practice exercises in MathXL reflect the instructor’s choice of approach and learning style, and regenerate algorithmically to give students unlimited opportunity for practice and mastery. Instructors can choose from the many exercises available for the author’s approach — or even choose additional exercises from other MathXL courses. Most exercises include learning aids, such as guided solutions, sample problems, and extra help at point-of-use, and offer helpful feedback when students enter incorrect answers.
Instructors can create, import, and manage online homework assignments, quizzes, and tests — or start with sample assignments — all of which are automatically graded, allowing instructors to spend less time grading, and more time teaching.
A variety of multimedia resources are also available as assignment learning aids. Students can link to the ebook, video clips, and animations to improve their understanding of key concepts. You can also assign media and video as well as accompanying exercises.
The exercise player in MathXL has been updated with a new, streamlined, mobile-friendly design. Students can access your course from iPad® and Android® tablets to work on exercises and review completed assignments on the go.
MathXL gives instructors a comprehensive gradebook with enhanced reporting functionality that makes it easier for instructors to understand which students are struggling, and which topics they struggle with most.
Performance analytics, accessed through the gradebook, give you the insight you need to make more informed decisions for remediation and instruction.
Now available — Early Alerts use predictive analytics to identify struggling students as early as possible, even if their assignment scores are not a cause for concern. As always, within MathXL it is easy for you to engage students directly and provide feedback.
MathXL lets you manage multiple class sections, and other instructors can copy your settings so a standardized syllabus can be maintained across your department. If you've spent time customizing your MathXL course and want to use the same course next semester, you can copy your existing course, preserve all your customizations, and share with other instructors.
The Custom Question Builder (CQB) within MathXL lets you create static and algorithmic online exercises for a wide variety of mathematical and statistical topics. A library of sample exercises provides an easy starting point for creating questions, and you can also create questions from scratch or edit questions from your course's online test bank.
