Pearson authors have developed the following features within MyLab Math to help students refresh key prerequisite content “just in time.”

MyLab Math Courses with Integrated Review

MyLab Math course solutions offer a complete College Algebra or Precalculus course with integrated review of select topics from developmental algebra. These courses help remediate students “just-in-time” and help with student retention of important concepts, ultimately boosting student success.

• Students begin each chapter by completing a Skills Check assignment to pinpoint which developmental topics, if any, they need to review.
• Students who demonstrate mastery of the review topics will move straight into the College Algebra content.
• A personalized review homework assignment will provide extra support for the students who need it.
• Additional review materials (worksheets, videos, and more) are available in an Integrated Review section at the start of each chapter in MyLab Math.

MyLab Math with Integrated Review are appropriate for students who struggle with pre-requisite skills and for co-requisite course models. These Integrated Review MyLab Math courses are available for a variety of College Algebra and Precalculus programs, as well as a variety of other disciplines.

Skill Builder Assignments

Skill Builder offers adaptive practice that is designed to increase students’ ability to complete their assignments. By monitoring student performance on their homework, Skill Builder adapts to each student’s needs and provides just-in-time, in-assignment practice to help them improve their proficiency on key learning objectives - including pre-requisite skills if needed. When enabling Skill Builder on a homework assignment, instructors can create shorter, more targeted assignments.

Beecher College Algebra with Integrated Review: A Blended Course

College Algebra with Intermediate Algebra: A Blended Course is an innovative new program from the Beecher et al. author team. Designed to meet the changing needs of today’s students and instructors in Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra courses, this program eliminates the repetition in topic coverage across the traditional, two-course sequence. The result is a streamlined course experience that makes better use of students’ (and instructors’) time and resources. The careful arrangement of topics—one building on the next without redundancy—motivates students and creates a solid foundation of knowledge. This new, streamlined approach to these courses is complemented by the authors’ innovative ability to help students “see the math” through their focus on visualization, early introduction to functions and graphing, and making connections between math concepts and the real world. Getting Ready Exercises

Our authors have pinpointed key pre-requisite concepts in the first few chapters that students should understand in order to succeed in the current chapter. These pre-requisite concepts are represented by Getting Ready exercises in the Assignment Manager in MyLab Math. As a best practice, when Getting Ready exercises are used in quick quizzes coupled with a personalized homework assignment, students benefit from getting efficient, effective just-in-time review.

Study Plan

The Study Plan makes studying more efficient and effective for every student. Performance and activity are assessed continually in real time. The data and analytics are used to provide personalized content—reinforcing concepts that target each student’s strengths and weaknesses.

As a best practice, use the Companion Study Plan Assignments to harness the power of the personal, adaptive learning while focusing the student on the concepts they most need at that given time.
