Students in a 6-week summer enrichment program achieved across the board skills gains in reading, writing, and math as measured by ACCUPLACER diagnostic pre- and post-tests. To date, 93 percent of eligible Summer Enrichment Program participants are currently enrolled in college. Four students were named finalists for Act Six (ActSix.org) and two students won full-tuition, full-need 4-year scholarships from Act Six.

When Williamson began teaching the Introduction to Psychology course in Fall 2016 she aimed to redesign the online offering to improve course pass rates and student performance. Williamson elected to implement Revel because she was seeking a product that offered an integrated eText so students could complete assignments directly within the reading while building their understanding of the material and confidence in the course.

On average, students who passed the course scored 40 percentage points higher on workspace assignments than students who did not pass. Faculty found that by reviewing and analyzing the student responses on workspace, they are able to tailor the timing and depth of rigor in the course to best benefit the students.

Instructor Bonde implemented Revel with the goal of helping students develop their critical thinking skills. Bonde was looking to increase technology use to further engage her students in the course and ensure students read the assigned material. She aimed to prepare students for the course exams through the Revel quizzes. Bonde also hoped that by increasing student engagement with the reading material, the quality of course discussion posts would improve (as a measure of critical thinking).

Clark implemented Revel with the goal of improving student success and retention rates in his American Government. He aimed to increase students’ reading of the course material. He believed the way information in Revel is broken down by learning objective would encourage comprehension. Students read a little and are then presented with a video, map, or question, helping them to stop and think about what they just read. He also hoped to improve students’ critical thinking and analytical skills by engaging them in improved discussion subsequent to their reading and understanding the course material.

In 2013, Instructor Elizabeth Pauly redesigned the Introduction to Music course and implemented a hybrid course format. By implementing the hybrid course she aimed to increase the amount of time spent in class on learning activities that expanded upon what students could read in the textbook and ultimately enhance their understanding of the topics covered. She hoped the ability to focus on deeper learning activities in class would lead to improved student performance on assignments and increased pass and retention rates in the course.
