Students in College Reading I completed an average of 13 diagnostics in MyReadingLab and improved their Lexile level an average of 110L; students in College Reading II completed an average of 15 diagnostics in MyReadingLab and improved their Lexile level an average of 153L. In both levels, more than half of students improved their Lexile by 100L or more.

Students received detailed feedback from Smarthinking writing tutors and showed improvement on subsequent essay drafts. Writing Lab Instructor Heather Greene stated that requiring students to engage with academic tutoring resources was a healthful exercise. Fully 36 percent of students who completed an end-of-semester survey reported that they used Smarthinking or Writing Center tutors without being asked to; the same number expressed interest in using outside tutors in the future.

After fully integrating MyReadingLab into class time in a computer lab, student post-test averages increased from 66 to 74 percent, and completion rates increased from 91 to 98 percent. As a result, all upper-level developmental reading sections now work on MyReadingLab during class time. After MyReadingLab became an integrated part of class time in all sections, students showed greater improvement from their Path Builder to Mastery Check scores. Completion rates also improved. Students in lower-level developmental reading are now completing Lexile work and showing good improvement in their reading level.

To help implement a statewide Multiple Measures policy exempting certain students from placement testing, Stanly Community College instated a remediation module in its gateway English course in spring 2015 to help boost success and completion rates. For the target group of Multiple Measures students with high school GPAs between 2.6–3.0, success rates have improved from 44 percent in the year pre-intervention, to 59 percent in the first year post-intervention, a difference of 15 percentage points. Students in all cohorts are seeing improvement from pre-test to post-test.

MyITLab was included as a key component of an Accounting Information Systems course to help students demonstrate proficiency in Excel. MyITLab allowed the instructor to consistently assess student competency in Excel with little effort or additional time. Acclaim badges were received by 95 percent of students on two Capstone Grader projects in MyITLab, allowing students to show current and potential employers their mastery of specific skills.

MyStatLab in MyLabsPlus™ educator study measures quiz scores: Students who choose to take multiple attempts on quizzes are required to follow MyStatLab’s Adaptive Study Plan between attempts. Their scores rise an average of 29 percent from Attempt 1 to Attempt 2.

By completing reading exercises and diagnostics in MyReadingLab, students improved their Lexile level from an average of 148L in the lowest level developmental reading course, to an average of 112L in the upper level developmental reading course. Implementing MyReadingLab helped satisfy our department's assessment needs as well as teach supplemental reading skills to students outside of the classroom.

Revel gives educators an opportunity to connect students to new innovations in technology. Data show a strong positive correlation between average Revel scores and final course grades and a very strong positive correlation between Revel module quiz scores and Revel chapter quiz scores. On average, students who received a Revel score of 70% or higher had a final course grade 16 percentage points higher than students who received a Revel score below 70%.

Correlations between GRIT scores and Lone Star KPIs offer evidence that higher GRIT scores are associated with better performance. Preliminary data show slightly higher rates of successful course completion among the “with GRIT” students than those in classes without additional GRIT instruction. Individual educators reported improvements in engagement, persistence, and achievement.
